Coach Nelson and Mr. Ariza escorted a group of students to watch a Creighton University men's basketball game this past weekend. The basketball players who finished the season and students from our new IJAG program were able to watch history being made when Mitch Ballock of CU was 11 for 12 from the three-point line. Thanks to the administration for helping make this happen.

Mr. Wanning was the celebrity reader for third grade. Thank you to Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Collins, and Mrs. Kerber for inviting everyone to read to their students.

Congratulations to Taria Wolfe's family!!!
A family from our Shinga Zhinga Child Development Center was selected to take a trip to Washington D.C. for "Strolling Thunder". Strolling Thunder is an event where families and babies go to Capitol Hill to help bring national attention to what babies and families need to thrive. Taria and Cethan Wolfe will head to Washington D.C. to educate members of Congress about why it is important to invest in the first three years of a child’s life. We are excited to have Taria involved in this event. She will advocate for her family, the Umonhon tribe, and the state of Nebraska. This is a big honor for Taria and her family because only one family is selected per state. Safe travels! We are proud of you!

We will be picking up in town students again this morning due to the frigid temperatures please call the school if you need a ride. Please be patient while waiting for the van to arrive as we are picking up many more students on these very cold days.

Thank you to Mrs. Wachter and Mr. Pickinpaugh for being the third grade celebrity readers today in Mrs. Kerber's class.

Parent Teacher Conferences 4-7pm on Wednesday March 6th

Due to the severe cold we will be picking up all students that need a ride today please call the school to arrange transportation.

Mr. Wanning had two visitors stop to see him in his office today. These two first grade students went above and beyond in math, and showed their teacher that they can tell time to the quarter-hour. We are so proud of their work ethic! #UNPSelementary

Below are some pictures of the Elementary Student Council members participating in the recycling program that they started earlier in the school year. They are making such a difference in our school with this newly implemented program!

The Elementary Student Council presented a reader's theater to the residents of the Carl T. Curtis Nursing Home, here in Macy. The students were able to read and give a Valentine gift to each resident. Thank you to our sponsors, Ms. Nichols and Mr. Renfro!

For our recent Valentine's Day activities in 5th grade, Ms. Nichols' class launched hearts from a catapult and measured the distance in centimeters, inches, feet, and yards.

Our 5th grade students recently created science labs about density and the states of matter. In these lava lamps the students made predictions about what they thought would happen, then recorded what actually happened. This hands on learning approach was enjoyed by all.

Another thanks to our Jag program teacher Mr. Ricardo Ariza for taking pictures at the Pow Wow. It was such a great celebration for all involved.

We have lots of appreciation for our White Eagle Club sponsors. A big thank you to Mrs. Webster, Gideon Hayes, and Mr. and Mrs. Lovejoy for their dedication to keeping the culture alive in our young students. The recent Pow Wow was a huge success!

Due to road conditions, there will be no school for UNPS today, Monday February 25th.
