Ms. Nichols' 5th grade students have been learning about the different spheres and how they interact with one another. They made habitats and then the students presented them to our class and told about all of the sphere interactions within their habitats.

Spring April Community Night
The 8th grade had a great time at the Wayne State College Planetarium on Friday, April 5th. They first went to the A. Jewell Schock Museum of Natural History where they were given a tour by Ms. Kneifl's daughter. The Museum of Natural History houses over 15,000 specimens of birds, mammals, invertebrates, plants and fossils. The Museum was created by Jewell Schock, a former Zoologist at Wayne State College. The students got to see the prep-room where the items that are brought into the museum are prepared for display and they are tagged and documented. Students were allowed to touch the displays and play in the geographic sand table that showed water levels and mountain peaks. There was also a table where students could view snake skins, fossils and other animal and plant objects under a mircroscope. Then the class went to the Fred G. Dale Planetarium and they received a special show about what it takes to be an astronaut to correlate with their previous novel, "Hidden Figures" by Margot Lee Shetterly. Students received a snack, a real shark tooth and a Wayne State College wristband, along with some conservation wildlife buttons, lunch was in the student center, and the class took a break at Bressler Park before returning to school.
