
Recently, our Kindergarten students and First grade students were visited by firefighters from the South Sioux City Fire Department. They were taught the rules and procedures of fire safety.

Fourth grade students have paired with Kindergarten students to form "Reading Buddy" partnerships. This is just one way we are continuing to build successful readers at UNPS elementary.

The Kindergarten team and students had a very educational and fun field trip to a local pumpkin patch. The joy on the student's faces says it all!





Ms. Nichols' 5th grade classroom conducted another activity, as they learned about food webs in science class. The students learned about producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, and decomposers, all while having fun!





Here are some pictures from Ms. Nichols' 5th grade classroom as they learned about the transfer of energy in an ocean ecosystem. The sand was passed from one student to another. At the end, the students could see from the control cup, that energy was lost during the transfer.





We want to thank Mr. Greg Schoenfelder and his team of former UNPS graduates, Dedric LaPointe and Marcos De Los Santos, on their first attempt of concrete stamping. The results were fantastic, and we have a great start on our educational outdoor classroom! Thank you!



High School students recently visited Wayne State College on a tor of the campus and their academic programs.


UNPS Elementary is having a Kindness Challenge for the month of November. Each week lists things that students can do at school and home to promote kindness within the community. Thank you to the third grade classrooms for this great idea!

There will be a parent/guardian meeting tonight, Nov.1st, for all high school student-athletes who want to go out for basketball. The meeting will be at 5PM in the band room at the school.
