
No school Wednesday, December 18th, 2019.
Bertram Walker, former UNPS Board of Education member, passed away Saturday evening. Mr. Walker dedicated almost 30 years of service as a school board member at UNPS. It is with a heavy heart that we share this news. In honor of his service, the UNPS Board of Education as agreed to host the funeral. Therefore, there will be no school on Wednesday, December 18th. Classes will resume as normal on Thursday. Please extend your condolences to the Walker family during this difficult time.

Sixth Grade Reading students finished the novel Touching Spirit Bear and created projects to reflect the symbols, characters, and action scenes in the book. Seventh grade students wrote shape, or concrete, poems about topics of their choice. The themes ranged from family, to pets, to sports and hobbies.They are doing a wonderful job using art and poetry to reflect on their learning.

Omaha Nation was filled with cameras all over on Thursday as I love public schools came to work with our students and take highlight shots of the great things going on at Omaha Nation. They also shared a meal with the parents of the students who are working to create a documentary about our school.

The Elementary Student Council had the opportunity to watch Mr. Mangan perform as Mr. Scrooge in the Christmas Carol at New Players Stage in South Sioux City. The students had a great time and did a fabulous of representing our school!

Last Friday we visited classrooms to announce our Citizens of the month and Principal Award Winners for November. We are so proud of the progress our students are making in becoming Safe, Respectful, and Responsible. Go Chiefs!



The elementary recently celebrated our Culture Keeper Nominees. Mrs. Grinbergs was nominated for her efforts in setting high expectations, and her work to refine her craft. Ms. Frazier was nominated for her work in integrating culture as a valued member of the Outdoor Classroom.
