Our JAG and Culinary Pathway students had a fantastic opportunity at the Luminarium in Omaha on December 6, 2024. Students worked alongside Chef Anthony Warrior to cook and serve a beautiful meal during a special meet-and-greet event with Robin Wall Kimmerer, the acclaimed author of Braiding Sweetgrass. This event was particularly meaningful, as our JAG students have been studying Braiding Sweetgrass in their classes, exploring its powerful themes of Indigenous knowledge, sustainability, and the interconnection between people and nature. Attending the luncheon and engaging with the author was an inspiring and memorable experience for all involved!

This week our expressive arts class got to do "Hands on Tuesday" with our daycare making tambourines with paper plates. And then for "Friday with Friends" they created rain sticks. Both of these projects were tied into their book "We Are Water Protectors" by Carole Lindstrom

Dear UNPS Parents and Guardians, Please be sure to check your mailbox for Chronic Absenteeism Letters. These letters went out to the Parents/Guardian of students who have missed 10 or more days of school. It is very important that your student is here on time everyday for school in order for them to be successful in their studies. Thank you for all your support and help.

Shout out to Mr. Sturges, Ed Encinas, and Gerald Cournoyer, for bringing in representatives from the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) out of Santa Fe to speak with our high school and middle school students. It was an incredible opportunity for them to learn and engage with such esteemed professionals. We truly appreciate that you extended the invitation to other Native schools in Nebraska. It was wonderful to see students from Winnebago and Isanti joining us and participating in this valuable experience. Thank you again for your efforts in making this possible. Your dedication to enriching our student's education does not go unnoticed, and it continues to make a positive impact on our school community.
