J-Squad

This year our cross country team is made up of Seniors Garnett Parker

and Aundres McCauley.

Our coaches are Mr. Vogt and Mr. Fehringer. So in theory, the team could take the Food Truck to the meets. Think about it, the boys could snack all the way and Fehringer could get paid extra for driving the team. Vogt could ride shotgun and toss out candies to little kids in the streets of small towns. Also, we could have a 2x1 lap relay. Vogt and Fehringer vs Garnett and Aundres. Careful though, Fehringer might blow out his achilles…. again. This year our team has attended five meets. Each course is approximately 3.1 miles long. Some of the courses (like Wisner) have nasty hills. Other courses are flat (like South Sioux). Either way - 3.1 miles is a "darn long way to run," says coach Fehringer.

Coach Brad Vogt had this to say about his boyz: “Everyone is steadily improving,'' said coach Vogt. “Coach Fehringer and myself have been designing workouts to improve the team’s maximum rate of oxygen consumption during each race. It seems to be paying dividends. We can’t control the weather or the terrain, but we can control how we train-Like beasts.”

Coach Vogt and Fehringer have been teaching a new running style this year and it seems to be working. It’s called the Butterfly technique.

We tried to catch up with Fehringer for a demonstration but he was unavailable for comment. He was probably taking inventory in the Food Truck!

AND NOW FOR SOME:

Food Truck Facts With Fehringer!

J-Squad: Do you have any smokin hot deals this year?

Fehringer: Why, of course! Candy bars are only $2.00 along with any drink that we carry.

J-Squad: Do you have any new items on the menu this year?

Fehringer:  Why, yes! Some new drinks are Coke Zero and blue Powerade Zero.

J-Squad: Do you have any hot items?

Fehringer: Well, certainly. If you want something hot, I recommend our nachos for only $4.00!

There you have it, folks. Fehringer! The consummate businessman. Always trying to make a sale.  And he DOES look happy as a clam driving that truck... Maybe he is selling clams out of the truck.

The X-country team will be in action next week for district competition. The race will be held on October 12, at Twin Creeks Golf Course in Pender.  The girl's race starts at 4:30 with the boys to follow.
