On February 23, 2026, students interested in the Health and Human Services Pathway participated in a site visit at the Woodbury County 911 Communication Center. During their visit, students had the unique opportunity to listen to active 911 calls and observe firsthand how emergency communication professionals respond in real time.
Students learned that the CPR skills they are developing will be especially valuable in emergency situations. Dispatchers often need to guide callers through performing CPR until first responders arrive, highlighting the importance of remaining calm, knowledgeable, and clear under pressure.
The Woodbury County 911 Communication Center answers local and surrounding emergency calls and coordinates response efforts by dispatching the Sheriff’s Office, local law enforcement, fire departments, ambulances, and air rescue services when needed. This experience provided students with a deeper understanding of the critical role emergency dispatchers play in saving lives and supporting the community.

Our JAG and Culinary Pathway students had a fantastic opportunity at the Luminarium in Omaha on December 6, 2024. Students worked alongside Chef Anthony Warrior to cook and serve a beautiful meal during a special meet-and-greet event with Robin Wall Kimmerer, the acclaimed author of Braiding Sweetgrass.
This event was particularly meaningful, as our JAG students have been studying Braiding Sweetgrass in their classes, exploring its powerful themes of Indigenous knowledge, sustainability, and the interconnection between people and nature. Attending the luncheon and engaging with the author was an inspiring and memorable experience for all involved!
The Chief Store is open Tuesday-Thursday 11:00-2:00 for summer hours.
